Seven Days...

There is only one week until the wedding! Okay but moving on to what I have done the last week or so. Last weekend Phil came up with me on Thursday to do some landscape type stuff for Mom and Dad. He ripped a bunch of bushes, a tree, transplanted a tree, put ferns in, planted bushes, put down stuff to stop weeds and finally mulched. It looks great. Once we finally finished on Saturday afternoon we picked up some carry-out and watched X-Men: The Last Stand. Later on Monica and Kim Grubbs came over and had a bonfire with Mom and Dad so we went out there for a long time. I slept through most of it. I was tired...and I didn't even do that much of the work! I took Phil back down to Muncie on Sunday morning and we went to church there. After church we had Break-the-Fast with the YSA, which was my last real activity with the group. Yesterday I went with Mom, Grandma Lich, and Grandma Horn on the last breakfast club/shopping trip of my single life. It was fun to spend time with everyone. Then once we got back into town I went to mow lawn for both of them to more than refund my shopping trip! So here is an explanation of the pictures. The one on the right is of a third of the bed that Phil worked on and the picture of the flower stone thing is Mom's Mother's Day present from Matt and Tashina. I just wanted to show you that Mom is using the gift that you got her...Well only 7 more days to wait! Can you tell I am excited?

Muncie, Museums and Temples...Oh My!

It has been a very busy past few days with all the driving and special events that are happening lately! It all began on Tuesday when I drove down to Muncie with Mom to pick-up Phil and headed over to Indy to meet Tashina and the Girls for lunch. After lunch parted ways and I went to the Indiana State Museum with Phil while Mom, Tashina and the Girls went to the Children's Museum. After all the fun at the museums we all went to Matt and Tashina's house in Plainfield to spend the night for the early departure in the morning! We drove down to Edinburgh to meet up with Phil's Mom and his brother Thomas and headed off to Louisville to the Temple. We got there with plenty of time even with the various set-backs of the day which made it the first time I have ever been on time for the anything at the Temple! Afterwards we had a very long drive all the way up to Warsaw. We made a whole bunch of little stops on the way home to make it a little more tolerable.

Busy, Busy...

It has been a long time since I have last updated! Things are going pretty much as planned...Okay not really, but when do plans ever really work out? So here is a quick update, Phil is in Muncie, Kim is in Warsaw...The wedding is sneaking up very very slowly...Things are beginning to take shape as far as plans go, and it is beginnning to become real! Until this time it was so far away in the future that it seemed like it would never get here but now it is less than an Advent Calender away! I worked a couple of days last week at Zale Drugs where I worked during High School but I'm not in the Pharmacy anymore, which I miss a lot, I hope to get my Pharmacy Tech License this summer but I have to take a big test with loads of chemistry and other such nasty things on it! I have been working on my not-so-new new bike! Monica, a friend of Mom's, was getting rid of it so I asked her if I could take it off her hands. When I got started on it there was a child seat on the back and coated in dirt, I took off the sit and fixed it all up by myself! No help! I also put on a pretty awesome bell so I can say hi to everyone on campus! As you can tell I am really excited about the bike. This weekend I had the bridal shower in Indy at Aunt Kate's house. It was great to have all of my family see each other again and meet Phil's Mom and Sarah. The weekend was super fun but I wish it only lasted longer! Weekends just aren't long enough sometimes!

Finals Finale

I Love Finals Week! Okay so it sounds a tad bit strange, but it is the truth. I can't stand the tests and such but it is the fact that I don't have classes everyday and Phil doesn't work! I am finished with two of my finals, Geography and Education and I found out today that I don't need to take my Biology final. So only two more to go, Communication and History! Well the main highlights of the week have been spending time with Phil. We found a place to live for the beginning of next semester for fairly cheap and it is going to help out some friends as well. Yesterday we had a day of sports with the missionaries and the YSA for a couple of hours. Then I went to a Relief Society event about communication in the family. This morning Phil had another Traditional Horn Breakfast. This time it was Coco Wheats! He even liked them. I am a little sad though because he eats them like Mom, with milk on them, yuck! But to each his own... I think that he has now had all the the real Horn breakfasts now that I can think of, now it is time to work on the other Horn foods like Cranberry Crunchy Crap, Hashbrown Casserole, Cornbread Casserole, Twinkie Cake and all the others! I am getting hungry just thinking about them all! The week is going well here in the Marvelous Muncie Metropolis!

Wander Indiana...

So if you were wondering about the wandering in the title it is because of the enormous amount of driving this weekend. But it was all worth it...
On Friday Phil had an undergraduate research conference at Butler University in Indianapolis where he presented a paper on modern-day slavery. That morning we met up at 6.30 to have breakfast together before I had to take him to met up with the others that were going, too. I dropped him off for that then went to my one and only class on Fridays at 8am. After I finished with Geography I jumped in my car and had a nice drive to Indy(it was nice because there weren't many cars and I had my MP3 player). I met up with Phil once he was finished with his paper and we then drove down to Batesville to visit his family, including his sister and nephew, Amanda and Robert. It was nice to meet a bit more of Phil's family. Once I meet Phil's brother Robert (who is on a mission) I will have met all of the Call family. Well we stayed in Batesville for the evening and kicked around there for a bit, then took the long drive up to Plainfield to meet up with all my family for the weekend. We all met up for the annual Race for a Cure in downtown Indianapolis, except the only person who actually did it was Phil. Matt was going to run it with him but he chickened out in the end. I was going to walk it with my parents and Tashina and the girls, but it was raining and we didn't want the girls to get wet and sick again. So we just walked around the area while Phil finished the race. We stayed in Indy until that evening and hurried back to Muncie for an appointment with the missionaries. It was a fun time. Well as you can tell we sure did wander Indiana last weekend with all the driving and such. But it was a great time before the huge push before finals. This is the week before finals so this is when all the papers and projects are due. So personally this is worse than actual finals week!

Conference Weekend Chaos

Okay so as the title pretty much tells you this weekend was super duper crazy! Friday afternoon we drove down to the Louisville Temple with the YSA. It is about a three hour drive from Muncie, but it was worth it. That night we stayed with Phil's parents in Batesville, which is right in between Louisville and Muncie so it worked out really well to stay there because we were able to see them and not drive the entire three hours in one night! Then on Saturday we had a baptism right before general conference for our friend Rachael Linn. During the break between sessions we went on a picnic lunch to Minnetrista. Then after the second session on Saturday we made pizza at Phil's house before he went to the Priesthood Session. While he was doing that I went on a run with my roommate and her sister, which lasted for about an hour. We Phil finished with that we walked to campus to eat some free pizza from Late Nite, then decided to climb a tree! Random, I know. Sunday morning I went to Phil's house and we made some pancakes together for breakfast. Between conference sessions we had a potluck with YSA and went on a little stroll with the Gebs before the next session. Then after the last session we went on a really long walk to enjoy the wonderful weather we have had lately! While we were walking we ran into Jared and Emily. She decided to take a picture of us. So enjoy!

Bleeding Bonus

Okay so you might be asking yourself, "what two posts in to days, is the world coming to an end?" No, I just have some wonderful news! So the story goes... The campus had a blood drive yesterday and they offer incentives to get people to come in and bleed for them , they have t-shirts and they have a few drawings for door prizes. The door prizes are practical things like gas money, movie tickets, and other gift cards. Well this time they also threw in a thing for the State Museum, and as you can probably guess, we (being nerds) placed ours in the museum drawing. To make a long story short, we both ended up winning tickets to the museum! So we have our entertainment for the year planned out! And I was accepted into the Education class that I needed to get into for next semester! So things are GREAT!

Studying Snapshots

Okay so I am still behind on updating the blog. I know. Things have been great here in the wonderful world of Muncie the last few days. We actually had three full days of sun! No rain! Amazing! Well I went on a walk with Phil the other day around the gardens at Minnetrista. It was so nice because there were a few flowers blooming and it was just great to see that spring really is on its way and is pretty much here. It was great to actually be outside and not freeze to death. The gardens were really wild looking they weren't all perfectly organized, instead they looked like wildflowers growing in the woods. They had winding paths and fences with fancy gates everywhere. We actually had to jump the fence to get out! We saw a caretaker in there while we were walking around and we figured that he would have said something if he was locking up, but no, so we hoped a chest high fence with big spikes on it! Well the past two weeks have been a tad bit hectic with projects and presentations and now the addition of exams. I have one today, tomorrow, and then Monday, but they shouldn't be too hard, hopefully...Well in a more fun topic I've been taking pictures with Phil's computer and they are really fun so I hope that you enjoy the crazy pictures of the two of us!

Spring Break

So I have been a little behind on updating my blog. As you have noticed, but better late than never. Well as you can tell it is Spring Break! A time of rest and relaxation, right? Wrong. It is a time of crazy amounts of driving across the eastern half of the country and projects! Okay so this the Kim Horn version of Spring Break, 2008 edition. So it all began in Muncie, Friday afternoon I left school with Phil to head down to Batesville to be with his family, and as Indiana weather would have it, in a snowstorm (remember this is spring break NOT Christmas break) So Saturday and Sunday we were snowed in with his family. It was a really fun time we watched movies and organized pictures, and played games. We also used the foot of snow for a bit of sledding, oh and this hill didn't have a soccer goal at the bottom or the rest of the town using the same hill! Amazing! Okay. So on Monday morning I left to go to the Smokey Mountains with my family. We had a couple of picnics, and had drove around Cades Cove on Monday afternoon. Then on Tuesday we had a picnic lunch and went on a hike. Then we drove back to the cabin and had a yummy dinner that mom provided. On Wednesday morning not-so-bright, but early I left to go back up to Batesville to see Phil and work on the huge genealogy project that I am working on for my geography class. I just finished working on it for a bit, I just completed inputting the information for the 15th generation! At least this project is somewhat useful because mom can now take all the names and do what needs to be done for temple work, so hopefully we will have a large stack of names for temple trips now, which should keep us busy for a very long time to come!

wonderful weekend

Things have been crazy here in the wonderful world of Kim since the last update. So here are the plans as of today. The official time of the wedding is 10am in the Logan Temple on June 10th 2008!

This weekend was a fun one. On Saturday we traveled up to Warsaw and had dad take some engagement pictures for us at the Botanical Gardens in downtown Fort Wayne. We accidentally went on Dr. Seuss day at the gardens though so there were tons of little children running around the place, which made for an interesting time for taking engagement pictures! But it turned out to be a good thing because during some of them I am laughing at the kids being silly, so it ended up being a blessing in disguise. On Sunday we went to church in Warsaw with Mom and Dad. Phil finally had to meet everyone from my home ward, every time we have gone to Warsaw he has gotten out of going to church there, but this time he couldn't quite get out of it. After church we ate lunch with the family and came back to Muncie so that we could go to Why I Believe with the missionaries and some investigators. Okay so that was pretty much the entire weekend. This week I am going to go up to Fort Wayne to meet mom and try to figure out my wedding dress!

Here are our top picks of the pictures that we took on Saturday, I tried to put more up but the internet is really slow right now, but maybe later.

Once upon a Time...

...there was a girl named Kim. She started school at Ball State in August. She met this prince of a guy, Phil, in the Young Single Adults there. Kim, being her sweet, little, innocent self, asked this guy out to lunch to use up her extra money on her lunch card all in hopes of him falling for her charity and goodness. Phil, after a few lunches, fell for her generosity and good looks and Kim became his girlfriend. The two of them began doing things together like walks around campus, cooking dinner, and other such things that dating nerds like to do. Over the long and harsh winter break, our couple went to Nauvoo together for a friend's wedding and to each other's homes. After winter break the two resumed their pattern of dating and could often be seen eating meals together at all of the posh campus eateries but normally they went to Phil's house to cook dinner together. It was such an evening that Phil, after an evening full of conversation, suddenly dropped to one knee and asked if she would marry him. After a week of being secretly engaged (Kim said "yes," of course) Phil called Kim's father to ask fo permission to marry his daughter. Of course Kim's father, being the kind and gracious king that he is, said yes! And after June, they will live happily ever after.

Wicked Weekend

So this weekend was great because it was a long weekend for MLK day, so I was able to spend all weekend hanging out with Phil. Most people went home for the weekend, except a for a few of us who are further away than most. Friday night I went to a presentation on campus with Phil so that he could get extra credit for three of his classes. It was good. It was some comedy thing that had to do with race relations and such things. On Saturday we were at the library all day and spent part of the evening at the old institute building with the few people who were in Muncie over the weekend playing games and such. Later on in the evening we went to Late Nite to get free food and make some crafts. We made some homemade ice cream in a sandwich bag, and made this giant 3-d stars to hang up. On Sunday I had church, which didn't start until eleven because our ward switched for the New Year. I don't really like the change because it is right during lunch time! In the evening we had Mike and Amy Gebs over to Phil's house for dinner and some games. Finally we reach Monday, classes weren't meeting today because of the holiday so we studied together some in the morning then we went to a service project at Second Harvest Food Bank. There we switched potatoes from a fifty pound bag into smaller ones so that they would be more suitable for families to eat and not rot. Right after that I ran into Old Navy and picked up some new clothes with a gift card that I got for Christmas last year. (Thanks Aunt Kate!!) I am going to make some dinner right now. Then it is off to Family Home Evening with all the gang!

New Year, New Semester

This is the first week of the new semester. I have now been to all of the classes that I will have for the remainder of the academic year. I have lots of interesting classes. I am taking Latin, Public Speaking, Geography, History, Biology, and an Elementary Education class. They all seem to be going well so far at least, but no one has assigned any projects yet, so maybe that is it. It is great to be down at school again. I have had a chance to see all of my friends from church and from my dorm. It has been wonderful to see everyone and get caught up with what they are up to and how their breaks went. It is especially great to see Phil on a regular basis again. We have been hanging and doing stuff with Jared and Emily. So as you can tell life is great down here in Muncie!
I hope that yours is going just as well, if not better!

Winter Break Fun

Merry Christmas! Happy New Year! Sorry I am a little behind but I didn't think that it was too important to update the blog because the few people who read it saw me during the first part of break, but now things have been a tad bit crazy.
First I went down to Muncie to meet up with Phil so that we could drive over to Nauvoo for a friend's wedding, which went really well. We stayed with the groom's family the night before the wedding because they had extra rooms for us in their hotel. Then on the day of the wedding Phil and I walked to the Visitor Center in about four to six inches of snow, only to discover that all of the historic Nauvoo buildings were closed because of the weather. After the wedding we started the long drive back to Muncie and got there really late. On Saturday we continued our trek to Batesville to visit his family. We did some stuff around town on Saturday and then on Sunday I went to church with his family and met some of the people from his ward. On Monday morning we went flying with Phil's dad. It was super duper fun and Amazing! Then we took the long drive up to Warsaw that evening to spend the New Year with the family playing dominoes and the usual New Year's Eve activities. New Year's Day we went on a walk and later on in the afternoon went to Grandma Lich's for Christmas with the family. In the evening Phil and I left for Muncie so that he could get back to Batesville before it was too late, but instead we both got stuck in Muncie because the roads were really bad because of the snow and wind. I stayed with Michael and Amy Gebs and Phil just stayed at his house in town. Then we met up in the morning and kicked around town for a bit and headed our separate ways.
So as you can tell it has been an exciting and wonderful Christmas break. I can't wait to get back down to Muncie to see all of my friends and such. I am not too excited for classes to start again but my social life has had enough of a break so far!
Hope all is well!
